Using QTTabBar to change File Explorer background color is not very straight forward, though.

If you cannot stare at the white background of Windows 10 File Explorer or folders, you can use the QTTabBar to change the default background color. You can use a third-party tool called QTTabBar (yes, that’s the name of the program!) to change the default color of File Explorer. Yes, there is a way to change the color of File Explorer in Windows 10. Is it possible to change the folder background color in Windows 10?

Therefore, there is no point in trying out the old Windows 7 compatible folder background changing tools on Windows 10.

There is no software out there to change folder background color or image in Windows 10, at least for now. Under Show accent color on the following surfaces, select the Start, taskbar, and action center box and the Title bars and window borders box.If you are on Windows 10, it’s not possible to set a picture as File Explorer or folder background. You can play around with the colors and modes to see which ones work best for you. This option is for the Start menu, taskbar, and action center. You can also show an accent color for window title bars (the horizontal bar at the top of a window) and borders.
You can choose an accent color, or have Windows select one (the accent color will provide a contrast with, or match, your wallpaper and Windows color). The Custom mode gives you options between Light and Dark. Note: The Light mode doesn't personalize the color of the Start menu, taskbar, and action center (that option is only available for Dark and Custom modes).
